J'arrive en France

Monday 30 April
Set out at 10am. Very pleased to off at last. Met 'crow' and Margaret for lunch at Kineton, which was a great send off.

Spent the night at Youth Hostel,in the lovely square in Stow on the Wold.

Tuesday 1st May
Great days cycling through Cotswold lanes. Arrived Streatly YH about 4.30. 48 miles today.

Wednesday 2nd May
After quite a hard days cycling and the last 3 miles uphill arrived at the remote YH to find it closed. Much phoning but not response, so decided to camp on ground in front of hostel after neighbours offered use of their annexe toilet and washbasin.

Thursday 3rd May
Set off at 8.45 after packing camping gear. Brilliant bacon butty and mug of tea in Billinghurst. Arrived Telscombe YH about 5.30. Absolutely brilliant YH. Clocked 188 miles so far.

Friday 4th May
Up at 6 to catch 8 am Ferry. Ferry arrived Dieppe at 1.00 pm. Weather completely changed. Really cold wind so spent night in Dieppe.

Saturday 5th May
On the road at 9 after le petite dejeuner. Great cycle this morning through lovely lanes with wind behind me. Arrived Rouen just after 1.00 pm - just over 40 miles!

Hi Wol,

well done lad, pedalling through that channel tunnel must have been a bugger!

Don't forget, it's Lafionas or "Bust" so when the road forks for St Tropez, keep left,

Luv form Magoo & Rosie at internet cafe in Barmouth on a rainy sunday afternoon

Great to hear that you have reached the other side safely and that you are drinking gallons of water!
Hope that you aren't suffering from saddle soreness.
Raining today in the UK hope that it's not sur le continent.
Lots of love
