27th May - 1st June
"sweetheart" and I have had a really great time in Bologna. We can understand why they call this place "La Grassa" - the Fat One. The food here is just fantastic and we seem to have wandered from one great Trattoria to another; each one has its own character and the food is irresistable and inexpensive.
Rachael and Sue Goodfellow joined us for a couple of nights and helped us consume, what seemed like vast amounts of great pasta etc. Great to see both girls, and we had a good time with each other.
The Knees are easing up a little but still too stiff to kneel!
Tomorrow "Sweetheart" returns to England and I will continue my travels down the east coast of Italy, to Bari where I hope to be around 12th June to catch ferry to Patras.
It will be quite strange getting on my "Saracen" again after a great six day break, where I think I have managed to replenish the few pounds that I lost whilst struggling over the Alps!

Hi,
Guess you're just a pair of old bloggers! But are we nearing a Knee moment ... the world is hanging on with bated breath ... it could be a tandem next year perhaps? ... maybe a little seat on the back too ... who knows with all that Italian ambience!
What I want to know is did the gaffa tape hold?
Love to both of you

Message from Crow and The Barrel:
Great to have your phone call and to hear the happy gathering! I expect your time with Sue coming to end and you will be on the road again. Bologna was a lovely place for a stopover. Much the same here - Margaret Hartlbury today wonderful weather! Ben has been away, Di didn't manage to get that last message through. Happy cycling - I look well !! Lots of love. Ma
Sweetheart..... is now safely back in the UK not back in the - back in the USSR - which album? Answers on a postcard please.
Not only but seriously, Peter and I thoroughly enjoyed our 'catch up' time in Bologna, the food was deliciously calorific and the wine + company suitably intoxicating. Rachael and Sue were an added bonus and we thoroughly enjoyed our time together. 'Thank you' to all of the assembled Bologna party.
Missing you already Peter, take care on your travels - hope the weather improves

Ros just blogged my memory that I hadn't blogged for nearly a week! I suppose knees at your great age Wally must take a great deal of time before they can adopt a kneeling position for very long. Wondrous news from Wellington Heath, I pursuaded a crew from here calling themselves the Monkey Island Dippers to enter the Upton Pubs clubs and firms regatta yesterday. Against all predictions and to our great amazement and delight they won the final beating Steve Cox's sexy ladies crew from the Kings Head, calling themselves Stevie's Wonders. Ben had to dole out quite a few pints of free beer at the Farmers afterwards. Good luck and keep the knees well oiled for the next opportunity. Bladder
Gaffa tape held well!
Glad to hear that you're still looking well Crow! How's the Barrel, not getting too barrel like, I hope.
Fantastic news about the "Monkey Island Dippers", well done Bladder - I wish I could have been there.
