Towards Bari

Wednesday 6th June
Arrived Termoli mid afternoon and stayed in 'bed and breakfast'. Great to sleep in clean bed after 3 or 4 nights camping. Great meal with mussels in Termoli last night. Left early and had I think the worst days cycling so far, across very sparse countryside and against stiff headwind. A lot of the surrounding area seemed to be dominated by Quarrying. Eventually arrived in Ippocampo, where I managed to persuade workmen to let me camp!
On another issue I am sorry to see that the level of chat has dimished from an acceptable level since "Birdy" has entered the fray. Perhaps it's just as well that my journey is coming to an end.

Thursday 7th June
Much better days cycling, after almighty thunder storms last night. The first time that I've ever felt nervous in a thunder storm! Arrived Bari mid-afternoon and bought ticket for overnight ferry to Patras.

Well done old bean, that is fantastic progress. I have thought of you merrily cycling down the east coast, stopping for swims in idyllic bays and eating at small beach side trattorias - illusions shattered to hear that you have had to beg a night in a quarry from the quarrymen. Not up to your usual standard! lots luv Mrs B

LeeMan reporting in:

Staying round Bladder's and just heard of your epic journey. I will subscribe to your blog now that it is nearly over!

Hope the ferry crossing went well!

let's hope the ill winds and storms did not affect the ferry voyage. Did your grasp of the Italian language or perhaps a bit of Latin thrown in for good measure swing it for you when persuading the workmen to let you pitch the tent? We are all rather breathlessly awaiting the arrival of the next Magoo grandchild. Just enjoyed a weekend with Lee man and Clare, Lee man has now started up his own business but I haven't worked out exactly what he does, let's hope he does! Bladder

You old blogger,
you've kept us in the dark since Bari ... no news all the way through Greece and now we hear you're arriving at mytilini in the morning, intending to arrive at Lafinas 1:00pm greek time tomorrow.

Brilliant achievement anywayand well done ...

hope the tyres hold out .. don't want a blow job on the last lap !

luv

Great to hear that you're still pedalling and that Maguire's puns are getting worse. His condition is obviously worsening. I suspect that it's impending doublegrandaditis.

You can Dare de Nelles if you like but I dare not as the dipping distance is still too great!

CONGRATULATIONS AND CELEBRATIONS
What a journey. I expect that you will soon start planning the return trip!!
Was the flag fully flying from Petra Jetty? Was the mayor there to meet and greet? I hope that you had a few beers waiting.
What happened between Saturday June 9th and Monday June 11th? Can't wait to hear.
Love you lots

Well done Bishton. Cannot believe that you are there already. What happened on the last bit of the trip? I check every day but no news and only Magoos puns!! Life can be very hard! Bottle of champs waiting for your return unless Bladder finds it first

Scandalous!!! Still no comments from Bishton since 7th June. I think the whole thing is just a scam and he is hiding in an internet black hole in the welsh mountains. The man we met in Sully sur Loire was just an inflatable model or a hologram. The real version could not have stood up after so much whisky!! Will the real Peter Bishton reveal himself! Sweetheart could verify the real version.

Having taken some time to read this and knowing how Peter likes a good beer with his bike ride, I'm just a little suspicious......yes, there is mention of a fantastic coffee (containing 2 spirits!) but no real mention about beer...Come on Peter, tell all! There are gaps in the tale as pointed out by Maple. BTW. Hello all, hope you are well!

Well done Wally. I gather you made it in record time. Much 'chapeau' and let me know what kind of comfortable saddle you must have on the bike!

Answers on a postcard to Peter Bishton somewhere in Lafionas, Lesvos, Greece - lost in Jimmy's bar with Burdy, William and Claire

Lost in Greece (The fatman's revenge)

Its a disgrace Bishton has gone awol and we're left not knowing! Though in hindsight that's probably all to the good. Fantastic results on Justgiving too, no thanks to the main participant who is very conspicuous by his absence. We want to know you know.
