Saturday 2nd June
Pouring with rain when we woke this day of departure and parting! So accompanied Sweetheart to the airport, and kissed goodbye. By the time I had got back to Cosy House, the rain had eased so I set off, with a brisk wind which for once was behind me, so made good time, and reached the East coast just north of Rimini, at a place called Cesenatica. Found a good little hotel amongst a hoard of other holiday hotels.
Sunday 3rd June
Made my way south east through Rimini and other tourist resorts. Some very up market and some not so! Stayed the night at Fano Camp Site. Enjoyed a great coffee with a bunch of young people, Italian, Belgian, and Brazilian. Coffee consisted of two spirits mixed, black coffee and a small slice of lemon peel. Apparantly it's what the local fishermen drink. One of the best coffees I've ever tasted.
Monday 4th June
I felt very tired yesterday, but much better today. Packed up and on the road before 9 having eaten breakfast in campsite bar. The wind is still behind me, so I am taking the opportunity to get south before it gets too hot. Stayed the night in camp site in Via Violle, which sums it up, because it is vile! The atmosphere is a bit like Butlins, and at about 9.30 a group starts up, and "oldies" starting dancing.
Tuesday 5th June
Good cycling with the wind still behind me. I'm sticking to the coast road, it's too hilly back from the coast, but some of the countryside up in the hills looks really lovely. Making my way to Ortona tonight. Clocked over the 1,500 mile mark today.

Hi Pete. I have been speaking with Bladder tonight and we both agree that the standard of 'comment' from certain quarters was up to the usual standard i.e. dismal and that the site should be graced by 'Moi' with my usual high quality observations and useful advice which you will no doubt be to first to aknowledge has made you the man you are after all these years. (but perhaps you left the country to escape it?)
I have read all your blogs with interest and am glad to see that no 'soreness or irritation' has arisen which is a great relief as after all those cycle rides in the old days back to the flat made me extremely cautious of being asked to apply the embrication again. The thought of having to dash out to foreign climes to be 'nurse' again does not appeal.
I see that you left a brisk wind behind, nothing new there. What about reports of daily mileage, we don't want you slacking. Interesting to hear about the good coffea in Vile, look forward to getting the recipe. Perhaps the following mornings 'tiredness' was a hangover methinks. Can't understand why you didn't join the oldies dancing, you must have qualified. Anyway, got to go and play Boules now so best wishes and I'll be on again shortly. Best wishes, Burdy.
I went down to Wolly's blog,
Ah the last bikes was leavin'
But me chain came off the cog,
Haul away ...
er sorry ... didn't realise anyone was listening,
Right now look 'ere,
very disappointed in outcome at romantic Bologna ... thought it might at least have been Bolog-knees ... you've pasta great opportunity for a pizza the good life with sweetheart and vino your gonna regret it ... still not too late though, the Pope has one or two Saturdays free in May/June 08 and I've put a down payment for a tandem,
keep it up
cheers
Magoo
ps glad to see that Burdy feels that the standard of comment has improved from abysmal to merely dismal ... Magoo
I really don't think that Burdy deciding to enter the 'blogging' has raised the standard or given us all a more erudite perception of the world tour. In fact I feel that it is really quite the opposite - thoughts of the application of the embrication do nothing to enhance the romantic feelings that accompanied me on my departure from Bologna.
Glad to read that you are making good progress. Lots of Love
Sweetheart
Oh Sue I'm injured.........
Sweetheart has obviously been romanced to the point of confusion so get me a set of knee pads at Aldi Magoo, I think she is weakening.
